The smallest state in the US, Rhode Island packs a lot of punch for such a small area. Known as the Ocean State, Rhode Island is only 48 miles long yet has over 400 miles of beautiful coastline thanks to its many coves, bays, and islands. The last of the thirteen colonies to become a state, Rhode Island is rich in history… and historically its people are just plain rich. In the late 1800s, wealthy families summered in “cottages” overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and the stunning Gilded Age homes can be toured today. Don’t underestimate Rhode Island because of its size – it is stunningly beautiful and has so much to offer!
