Overall we enjoyed our morning at the Arenal Canopy Adventure & Tarzan Swing. (See my full trip report here.) The company was very safe and the tour well run. There was a really large group at our tour time (maybe a dozen others in addition to our 11 people) and I was concerned about the wait time on each line. But unlike other zip lining tours I have done, they did not keep the whole group together. They had enough guides that they could continuously move people through the different lines instead of waiting for everyone to catch up on each platform. This really helped to move things along and minimize the wait times.
The guides were a lot of fun. We had one person in our group who was anxious (but had a good sense of humor about it) and they had a lot of fun playing with her. Just as they’d send her off on a line one of them would say something like “oh no! wait!” and pretend to try to grab her just to mess with her.
While the guides and the company were great, the course was just so-so. There were only 8 cables, with the longest at 1970 feet and highest at 300 feet. The full experience only took a little under an hour and just wasn’t all that thrilling. Also, the scenery was nowhere near as dramatic as I had hoped for, with fields and farmlands more prevalent than jungle treetops. The Tarzan Swing was a neat addition, but even that was a little underwhelming.
They do offer a photo package, which we thought was worth it. The quality of the photos is great, even if the expressions on our faces aren’t as excited as we had hoped they’d be.
Overall I think this is a great option for beginners or people a little more hesitant about zip lining. The company puts safety first and has high quality guides. If you want a starter course or something a little less adventurous, this is a great place to go. If you want a more thrilling experience, I would look at some of the many other options in the area.
