Our family really enjoyed LegoLand. Here are some tips to help your family enjoy it too!
Do not pay full price.
The LegoClub Magazine regularly has coupons for a free child ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket. Not a subscriber? You can subscribe for free at lego.com. Or simply google legoland florida coupons to find similar deals elsewhere. There is always a valid coupon out there so you should never have to pay full price.
Go in the off season.
This holds true for most theme parks but we went at the end of February and barely waited in any lines. We rode some of the same rides back to back with no waiting.
Know what to expect.
It’s important to level-set for yourself and your kids. LegoLand states that their target audience is 2 to 12 year olds. I would say 12 is pushing it. Our kids were 6 and 8 when we went and really enjoyed it but I think in another year or so my oldest would have aged out. I think it is best suited for 3-6 year olds. That age group has the most rides and activities to take advantage of.
Remember that there are some fun roller coasters but no thrill rides. The rides are enjoyable as long as you don’t go with the expectation of major coasters.
Bring Lego MiniFigures to trade.
Much like Disney World has pin trading, LegoLand has Minifigure trading. All employees (“Model Citizens”) have at least one Minifigure on their badge and most wear lanyards with dozens of tradeable mini figures attached. As long as your Minifigure has a head, body, and legs, you can trade them. This was something we didn’t plan for and I think my boys would have enjoyed it.
Try the apple fries.
Granny’s Apple Fries are LegoLand’s signature treat. They take slices of Granny Smith apples, fry them, dust them with cinnamon sugar, and serve them with a vanilla cream dipping sauce. So delicious!
