Isabela is the largest island in the Galapagos, as well as one of the youngest at roughly 1 million years old. Created by the merger of 6 shield volcanoes (5 of which are still active), the island is one of the most volcanically active places in the world. The equator runs through the northern end of the seahorse-shaped island.
We spent 5 days on Isabela, staying at Iguana Crossing Boutique Hotel. We did some exploring of the town and surrounding area on our own and took organized tours to Las Tintoreras, El Muro de las Lagrimas (Wall of Tears), Sierra Negra, and Los Tuneles.
